The Cyber Workshop has access to high speed, powerful computers, connected to the Internet on multiple high speed lines so that your web pages download to viewers as quickly as possible.
Some Hosting Services/ISPs use the same servers and internet connections as they do for their dial-up accounts and web hosting customers. Our servers are dedicated hosting servers only so that we can focus on giving you and your Web site optimal service.

Domain Name

Domain Explained - Your Web Site’s Domain is its "home", or the address that will be used to access your site on the WWW. The Domain name is really an alias for an IP number which is actually what the computer uses to find the location of a web site or page.

There are currently six extensions that are available for domain names.

• .com - Commercial

• .org - Organizations

• .net - Networks

• .edu - Educational

• .gov - Government

• .mil - Military

Most Web Sites have the extension for Commercial because even if they are not "commercial" they do not properly fall under another category. If you desire an extension other than .com you will have to provide good reasons for doing so. There will be more extensions available in the future.

Pros and Cons - You have two main options when considering your Domain Name.

www.yournamehere.com - Having your own domain name has many advantages. One example would be that e-mail addresses used for contact through your web site will be in your own domain name also (sales@yournamehere.com). Another would be the more obvious that you will have your own home and would never have to change the address. If you ever wish to move your site to a different server or to one of your own, you would be able to keep the domain name. Network Solutions, the company than handles all domain name registrations, charges $50/year for having your own domain. This invoice must be paid directly by you, but we will assist you in the registration process.

www.cyberworkshop.com/yournamehere - We also offer the option of hosting your web site under our own domain name. This would be the equivalent of having a web "condo" instead of a "home". The obvious advantage here would be that you would forgo the $50/year charge for having your own domain. The big disadvantage would be if you wanted to move your site, you would have to change the address.
